Mindray's Dryline neonatal water trap is a precision medical consumable designed specifically for neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and is used in conjunction with Mindray's monitors or ventilators. Dry-plate technology eliminates the need for manual water filling, unlike traditional sump cups that require water to function. Utilizing special optical sensors, it eliminates the need for manual water addition, preventing measurement errors or equipment alarms caused by water shortages, and also eliminating the risk of overflowing water contaminating the bed.

In neonatal mechanical ventilation, heated and humidified gas condenses into water as it flows through the tubing because the ambient temperature is lower than the temperature inside the tubing. The purpose of the water collection cup is to collect this condensate, preventing water accumulation from clogging the tubing or accidentally flowing into the infant's airway. It employs a passive water collection design, relying on gravity or airflow to guide the water into the cup without external power.

Uses:

- Respiratory function assessment: Primarily used to assess the ventilation status of newborns and determine if there is insufficient or excessive ventilation.

- Mechanical ventilation monitoring: An essential monitoring component when using a ventilator to help physicians adjust ventilator parameters (such as respiratory rate and tidal volume).

- Airway management: During endotracheal intubation or the use of a laryngeal mask airway, it acts as a bridge connecting the airway to the ventilator/monitor, while also humidifying the gas and collecting secretions/condensate.
